The Lenten season begins with the receiving of ashes on Ash Wednesday, lasting 40 days (not counting Sundays) and culminates with the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. On Ash Wednesday, (though not a holy day of obligation) the faithful go to church to receive a sign of the cross on their forehead. This mark is a reminder of our morality and a call for repentance.
In observance of Ash Wednesday, the staff, children and parent volunteers of Saint Preschool attended the noon mass at Saint Victor Church to receive ashes. Monsignor Murphy asked that the children be kind to each other, their friends, teachers and parents. The overall message of the mass was:
“Pray like no one is watching you. Fast like no one is watching you. Do good like no one is watching you. God knows.”
A BIG thank you to all of our amazing parent volunteers — your overwhelming support, active participation and genuine love for Saint Victor’s Preschool are truly the pillars of our foundation.
